Abby & Stygia: Ms. C just read an article in her local paper that our local animal shelter (where we both came from) closed its doors at 4pm today, almost without any notice to the public! After she relayed the information from the article to us, we are not sure how to feel about the closing of the shelter -- being embroiled in controversy and local politics is not something we cats care to involve ourselves in.
What are we thankful for? We are thankful that Ms. C and Mr. R were able to adopt us before the closing of this shelter. Yes, there are other shelters and rescues they could have adopted from, but if they'd gone elsewhere, would they have found US?! No! And of course we are very, very special cats, they're very lucky to have found us . . . not to sound ungrateful, I guess that means all four of us are thankful and lucky!
We are also thankful that some local rescue groups were able to come in and take some of the animals at short notice.
Stygia: I was scared and depressed when I moved in to my new home here, but have since really acclimated to it. I show my love to my people by rolling, sometimes repeatedly, and getting a great belly-rubbing! Right now, however, I need to get back to sitting by and meowing at Mr. R's chair, cause I know it's almost time for him to return from work and I miss him!
Abby: Do you really like him that much, or is it his scent?
Stygia: I don't just like him, I love him!
There are lots and lots of things to be thankful for . . . our cozy home, fuzzy afghans, feeding time, and most of all, friends!

Oh that's so shocking! We didn't know we were that close to you geographically. We live right outside of Philly on the NJ side.

We are so happy that you are in such a great home now, but sad for the shelter and the refuge it offered.
Your Friends.

I am very thankful that you two were adopted, too! I'm sorry the shelter is shutting down, and I hope all the remaining cats and dogs find happy Forever homes, too.
Its sad to hear about a closing of a shelter. :(
We are sorry to hear that your shelter closed down. We too are purring that the kitties and doggies will have good luck in finding forever homes as good as yours.

That is so sad that the shelter is closing! Hopefully there are some near by that will take up the slack? The middle of winter can be a horrid time for all the strays out there.
We are sooo glad that you two have found your wonderful forever home!!

That's so sad. I'm thankful you two have a loving forever home, and hope the rescued pets find forever homes, too.
we were sadden to learn that one of your local shelters had to close. One nearby to us is also closing it's doors but its been well publicized. That was a lovely posting about your thankfullness...we are all very lucky to have our forever homes.

The closing of a shelter is not good news.
But we did enjoy reading your post about your thankfulness.
Have a great weekend!

You are two lucky kitties and two lucky people.
It saddens us whenever a shelter or place that helps abandoned and stray kitties and woofies shuts down.
