I am Home!! (Thankful Thursday)

Styx: It was a cold and snowy morning. That was Tuesday, when I was rudely awoken (ok, so I woke the humans up, but I am going for sympathy here!). I was hungry, because the thoughtless humans didn't offer any food after 6pm the night before. Then, I was placed into my carrier and taken out, across town, back to the VET! Where they LEFT me! Overnight!!

After that, it all becomes a bit of a blur. I don't remember much, but suffice to say I feel just a little bit lighter than I was before, and pretty stiff in the belly area. When I woke up, they did that terrible thing at the vet where they take your temperature, the thing I refused to let them do before, but they surprised me this time. So when they came to give me a booster shot, I said NO WAY. NO. WAY. And I won!! Ha ha!!

Ms. C arrived to pick me up. Did you know that some cats actually have jobs just like humans? I mean, at the vet there are several "office cats." Ms. C thinks this is wonderful, but I wonder if anyone could pay me or treat me enough to work there? Doubtful. You know what I'd say. NO WAY!!

Sun warms Styx's shaved belly

Ms. C says I am lucky because I don't have to wear the "cone of shame" collar thing. Personally, I think she is somehow part of a conspiracy. I am being very, very cautious about her. I was extremely happy when Mr. R, my love, came home last night, and showered him with licks, purrs, and entreaties. HE would nevr be part of such a plot!

My first order of business when I arrived home was to eat. Then I went on patrol and sniffed everything thoroughly. After that, it was time for a drink. Then, it was time for a full bath in the sun. It felt great! Then I discovered a chair I didn't observe before and made the sunny spot my own for a long afternoon's nap. Ahhh... it is great to be home!

Ms. C wants to give a special shout out to the lovely folks who helped make my rescue and spaying (what is that??) possible so quickly. She and Mr. R appreciate from the bottom of their hearts the generosity which allowed me to get the attention and care I needed as soon as they could manage it. I appreciate it, too! I love having a home. LOVE it. Can't say it enough! Cat bless you all!

Thankful Thursday

Abby: There are always things to be thankful for. One thing we are always the most thankful for are our friends. Today is the last day to cast your vote for the "Best Fur Sibling of the Year Contest." We are thankful to know Sen-Chan, so please click on the image below and cast your vote for him too, if you haven't already! All you need to do is leave a comment in that post.

You know, I was just sitting here innocently snoopervising on Ms. C's early-morning activities, and all of a sudden the thing I am sitting on started to make sounds and shoot out pieces of paper! I am not quite sure what to think of this.

We have another very sunny but very cold morning here, so we are thankful that we are cozy indoors today. I think we mentioned before how much we love the sun! Ms. C especially loves this close-up profile of me:

Stygia: Right now I am helping Ms. C blog for us by sitting in her lap. It's almost as, if not even cozier than the sun. We are both really happy right now. A little earlier, though, I was not sure if I was happy or not. I was curled up in the cat-condo, when she-who-shall-not-be-named also seemed to think she needed to be inside as well:

After that, I decided that it would probably be best if I moved on, and you can see from the evidence that thankfully I was just in time:

Thankful Thursday

Abby & Stygia: Ms. C just read an article in her local paper that our local animal shelter (where we both came from) closed its doors at 4pm today, almost without any notice to the public! After she relayed the information from the article to us, we are not sure how to feel about the closing of the shelter -- being embroiled in controversy and local politics is not something we cats care to involve ourselves in.

What are we thankful for? We are thankful that Ms. C and Mr. R were able to adopt us before the closing of this shelter. Yes, there are other shelters and rescues they could have adopted from, but if they'd gone elsewhere, would they have found US?! No! And of course we are very, very special cats, they're very lucky to have found us . . . not to sound ungrateful, I guess that means all four of us are thankful and lucky!

We are also thankful that some local rescue groups were able to come in and take some of the animals at short notice.

Stygia: I was scared and depressed when I moved in to my new home here, but have since really acclimated to it. I show my love to my people by rolling, sometimes repeatedly, and getting a great belly-rubbing! Right now, however, I need to get back to sitting by and meowing at Mr. R's chair, cause I know it's almost time for him to return from work and I miss him!

Abby: Do you really like him that much, or is it his scent?

Stygia: I don't just like him, I love him!

There are lots and lots of things to be thankful for . . . our cozy home, fuzzy afghans, feeding time, and most of all, friends!
