My Progress

Stygia: You know how most features about weight show a before and after picture in which the person depicted is so much skinnier than they were a few months before? Well in my case, my before and after pictures are just the opposite of that.

When Ms. C and Mr. R saved me from my cage at the SPCA, they thought I was an "oriental" style cat, and as we know from some of our best blogging friends' examples, this type is typified by a chiseled chin, long elegant limbs, fine bones, aerodynamic midsection, and often the trademark frootbat ears.

Here are my before and after pictures (biggify for detail):

Admirable as the oriental form is, after a few months of my new humans' care, it became clear that I am a normal short-haired cat and not an exotic. I can't believe how skinny I was! Now I eat my half a cup of food a day, and I get 2 or 3 Temptations, and plenty of exercise because of my sister Abby, and I not only look so much healthier, but I feel better too! Ms. C always comments on how much softer my fur is now, too. I feel like a very lucky cat.

Stygia, you look gorgeous and your new home must suit you.

We feel bad for complaining about our grey summer days, when we lookded at your post about how icy it is outside for you. Our winters aren't that cold - we hope you all keep warm and toasty.

Styggie, you look pawsome! We know about this "oriental-style" cat thing, as our mom is thinking the same about Chilli. Well, in comparison to me EFURRY cat would look oriental!
We often thought how lovely and healthy your fur looks. It is so glossy that we can't look at it directly or it would blind us. You look very happy and that makes us happy, too.

I am glad you got a great forever home with a wonderful sister and beans who love you!

Stygia you're just like my housemate Tigmut'hep (minus the bald belly), he looked much more like his Bombay grand parent than his BSH mother and cross breed father! Now he's just a big old 'niphead with a fat bald belly... So Isis and I are saving up our treat money to get him a t-shirt to keep it warm! :)

Purrs,

PS: Thanks for being so sweet to my little 'sis over the loss of her beloved Sen-Chan. Luckily for us she is a very practical young madam and is concentrating on purrculating herself a nice litter of kittens to keep herself occupied at this time... Hopefully one day she will find love again! :)

Wow...you gained a lot of weight!
Mom remembers how much weight we gained when we came to her too. Yes, we were just teeny kittens anyway, but for almost 3 months old we should have weighed we only weighed half what we should have...Niko was 1.2 pounds and Cloud was 2 pounds- we didn't eat well before the shelter rescued us, and then Niko got so sick with the coccidia while at the shelter.

Wow! You look so much better now. I still think you are exotic. After all, you're a House Panther!

You're obviously in the perfect, loving home you deserve. Purrrrrs

I'm glad Abby helps you exercise. My beans are my playmates and sometimes they get lazy...

Stygia, you are magnificent! We think that you are indeed a very exotic feline creature of great beauty, even if you are not an oriental!

I used to have a male cat,Sparky, who looked just like Stygia, and weighed a ton,but didn't really look very big.He lives with another family now,and has aparently gotten even bigger!LOL

I've now got a new kitten,Maya, who is also black with short hair, and grey/blue eyes.I'm hoping she will also grow to be a big beautiful lady like you,Stygia!

Check out my blog for pics of Maya.
