Active!

Ms. C: Do you know how difficult it is to get a picture of a cat that is constantly on the move? These days, it's practically impossible to get a picture of ANY of them. With Styx in heat, they are all on the move. Here is a rare one of Styx:

She does not act like a statue at all

Styx: Mrrrr? mmmrrrrr? (various sounds like a creaky door, and does "the pose" for Stygia)

Stygia: (hisses, sounds a bit like someone blowing her nose)

Stygia hides behind Ms. C's screen

The only way I got this picture of Stygia is because I took about 15 pictures.

Even though it's not a clear photo, here is what Abby is doing while Styx is trying to appeal to Stygia as if she/it is a tom:
Yawning on the Laundry
Yes, it's going to be another active day in our household. We are now on day 4 of Styx's heat. Hopefully only another 4-6 days to go.

We all have a new home!

Abby: Greetings, friends! It's been too long since we last posted. Ms. C, Mr. R, Stygia and I all moved into a new place this past weekend. Stygia and I did not arrive to the new place until around 10pm Sunday night, and we weren't too sure we liked the new place. It was dark, and it smelled a lot different than what we were used to. Stygia cried and cried in confusion, but I only hissed.

Then, the morning came and we discovered....

....the window!

Yes, as you can see, when this place was built, they obviously had me in mind because there is a super window with lots of space for stretching out in the sun. And we get sun all morning and afternoon! WOW! This is great.

We hope all of you had a wonderful Halloween and have been staying warm if it's winter where you are. Hope to hear from you soon! Ms. C says there will be lots more picture to come once she and Mr. R finish setting up the furniture and stuff the way we like it best.

What we've been doing . . .

Stygia: Our mom has been neglecting our blog, but she has not been neglecting us! In my case, this may be a little unfortunate, because yesterday she took me to the VET! That's why I am hiding in this shoe. Please don't worry about me, it was my first vet visit since I've made my new home, and it was just for check up and basic vaccines. I am healthy! I weigh 10.9 pounds, so I have not gained any more weight since Ms. C put us on a feeding schedule.

Here I am demonstrating my "Sphynx" method of play. What I am doing is sitting with my paws on my favorite toy, pretending not to notice that it is there. Pretty soon, though, I will let myself get very excited about it, and act surprised to find it there! This is a really fun game. Another way of playing this game is to sit right down with the toy underneath my back legs. When it's time to get surprised and excited, then you can start bunnykicking right away! Try this!

I also like to request playtime with Abby. It made me pretty sad when I came home from the vet last evening, and she hissed at me right away. She told me that I smelled funny, and she ran away. She told me she was sure I worked for that vet now, and that she knew I was going to "fix" her again. I played it cool as I could, and this morning it paid off. I was relaxing in the sun, and she came by and gave me a really thorough between-the-ears bath!

Abby: While Ms. C was taking a break and being lazy, guess what? I did a lot of that too! I have my own personal chair right next to hers (which I am allowed to scratch as much as I like!), and I sleep in it too. If you look carefully, you can see that I am licking my nose:

Ms. C placed a plush snake on the lamp next to her desk. Of course, I had to check that out, too. Wouldn't you?

Ms. C says she refuses to decorate anything for Christmas yet because not only is it not even Thanksgiving yet, but her birthday (which is on the last day of the month) must pass before the decorating can begin. We are wondering if Christmas means she is going to put cat toys up all over the house? Is it true?!

Between

Hi. It's Abby. You know, I am still scared of this new creature living in my house. It's always downstairs. However, Ms. C does not seem to be afraid of it. In fact, she was downstairs reading on the bed for a lot of the evening, and so I followed her. I searched all around the room and could not find that Other Cat.

Then I looked up! I often forget to do that. There she was, sitting comfortably on one of Ms. C's shirts. She was watching me. I am still not sure what to think, I might not be happy about this, but I feel very curious. Very.

Hello, it's me, Stygia. I'm still staying downstairs for now because it's safer here. I am still pretty depressed because I miss my family, my old Mom and Dad. The Lady Ms. C let me nap with her this afternoon -- she placed me on her belly, and I did not object. I stayed there, facing her, keeping her warm for a couple of hours. She patted me and brushed me, but I cannot yet bring myself to purr.

This evening, that Other Cat (her name is Abby) kept following Ms. C downstairs to my room. She did not see me for a long time because she does not look up very often, but she sniffs around and looks under everything. She is also not much of a jumper or climber, although I am.

When she saw me, she stretched up towards my position on the dresser. She hissed once, and Ms. C chided her so she stopped. After staring for a few minutes, she started rolling on the floor, showing me her belly, and making small trills. I must admit, I am confused by her conflicting messages!
