Big Day for Styx

Styx: Ms. C says I must be ready for my Big Day tomorrow. I have heard so much about how I'm going to be "so much happier" afterwards, but already I am not sure. She put the food bowls away at 6pm. What could this mean?

Styx: Don't I look like a good cat?

I don't know what is going to happen. But I'm not going to let that stop the fun! I have found new places to hide that confuse the humans. I ambush the other cats any time I can. I want them to PLAY with me!!

Mr. R says I have to learn proper use of my claws. Which means not using them. I am trying to learn, but I am a hunter and I need to use them when I go after voles and toy mice. Ms. R thinks I need a scratching post, but I don't even scratch at the couch. Maybe he is right though, a different texture might be nice to scratch.

Happy First Birthday, Abby!

Welcome to Abby's first birthday party! We are so glad you could make it!

The best way to celebrate at any party is with FOOD. Please, have a bite of this wonderful tuna and prawn cakelet, garnished delicately with potent organic catnip.

The candle had to be extinguished and removed before Abby could approach the food. Since it's not in the usual location where she receives food, she cautiously checked it out from a corner, making sure it was safe to approach:

Of course, you guessed already that it did not take long at all for Abby to move in and begin her birthday feast! Mmm-MMM!! The whole house filled with the . . . fragrance . . . of tuna. After the feast, it's only natural to follow the gorging with a catnip extravaganza! Everybody roll!

Here is a collage in celebration of Abby Normal! She arrived to her home with us on June 15th, 2008, right before she turned six months old, and she settled right in without fear or hiding, as if she knew this really was her forever home, all for her! We have watched her grow from a 5.5 pound kitten to an athletic and frisky 10 pound cat.

Abby is truly a gift and a joy to everyone here at home, a girl who loves equally to play wild thundering games, or to sleep cozily beside the legs of her people.

Big thanks to the most handsome cat Tristan of Tabbylicious and to Zoolatry for the beautiful birthday graphics featured at the top of today's entry!

Happy birthday, Abby -- we love you.

A Big Day

Ms. C:  We are sorry the updates are not as normal-- I am still on the road, and will be back to my regular secretarial duties for Abby tomorrow!

Today was a big day for Abby, however. Mr. R took her into the Animal Hospital at 9am for her spaying.  So tomorrow when I see her, I will be looking at her little shaved belly.

Mr. R just called to let me know Abby is doing fine!

See you soon!

The Big Day

Well, she warned me yesterday. Today was a big day. Yes, Ms. C took me to the Vet.

They did all kinds of tests. Did you know I weigh 5.5 pounds already? Yet, I am very slender, snake-like and small. I have a little virus it seems, so they gave Ms. C some medicine for that, and a tooth-brush (but I thought my cat-breath is beautiful....!), and some other things. They want me to go back in a week and a half for another check up, to make sure my sneezing is not worse.

Next month I am going to be "fixed." So Ms. C says. I pretty much thought I was perfect already, like they say: "If it ain't broke, don't fix it!" Ms. C keeps telling me that if I do this, I'll be a much happier grown-up cat. I kind of trust her. I stayed right next to her and curled up against her at the Vet's, and she kept me safe.

Now I am home, and as you can see, I got right into Mr. R's chair where I also feel safe:

By the time Ms. C finishes typing this for me, I will be fast asleep:

Until tomorrow, my friends. Ms. C says she will not harass me with the camera any more today because I have "been through enough!" Maybe we will just nap together!
